“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV
Happy New Year and
welcome to the journey of 21 days of prayer and fasting.
Every year we start our new year by taking 21 days to pray, fast and seek God for the new things he wants to do in our life. God is doing something new but often we can miss it because were not paying attention. We’re so busy and distracted, like Martha in the bible, we can miss what Jesus is trying to speak and do in our life. This is exactly why we need to set apart some time and give God some space to do the new thing he longs to do in us and through us. Fasting heightens our spiritual senses to see and hear God clearer.
There’s a lot of things we can commit to in this new year. We can start a new diet, get in shape, get our finances together, get organized and the list goes on. All of those things are good and have value but what if we focused on the one thing that changes everything, our relationship with God. Beginning the new year lets not dwell on our past, rather lets seek first the kingdom of God. As a church family were going to focus on looking at patterns, or ways of living, that are keeping us stuck in a rut. We’re going to look at Jesus’s way of living life and follow him. He is the way, the truth and the life. Happy trails!
