The Strength of Surrender
Have you ever felt the tension between what you want and what you know God is asking you to do?
As we head into Easter, this message slows us down to reflect on what Jesus experienced before the cross. In Luke 22, we see the weight of that moment—Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, facing deep anguish, pressure, and the ultimate decision: His will or the Father’s will.
Jesus shows us that before surrender, there is always a season of sifting. Testing reveals what’s really in us—our fears, doubts, and areas where we struggle to trust God. Just like Peter, our faith can falter, but it doesn’t have to fail.
The key is what happens next: surrender.
Jesus prayed, “Not my will, but Yours be done.” And it was after that surrender that strength came. God didn’t remove the situation—He strengthened Jesus through it.
This teaches us a powerful truth:
Sifting is part of growth—don’t avoid it
Surrender requires trust—let go of control
Strength comes after surrender—not before
Persistent prayer is how we get there
When we keep showing up in prayer, even in tension, God gives us the strength to say yes to His will.
